Round twelve was a simple affair, four games in the one night. It made dream team contests easy as players didn’t have to worry about teams doubling up while it made for an easy night in if you could find the right stream. Unfortunately for me I was travelling to Melbourne that night so I didn’t get to see any action so I will be relying on statistics more than I usually do in this blog.
Dabster Award
Round Twelve Dabster Award Winner
Eddie Gill, Townsville Crocodiles – 26 points (8/11 FG, 5/6 3P, 5/6 FT), 9 assists, 3 rebounds, 1 block and 2 turnovers. ER – 33.
The Crocs in general had a blinder in their win against Sydney, shooting a respectable 49% from the field and a whopping 16/32 from behind the arc. Talk about a winning performance. And Gill was in the middle of all of it. Hitting five three pointers for himself, he only missed three total shots on his way to a game high 26 while dishing out 9 assists, the most of the round. This is almost a perfect point guard performance as he not only got his points he facilitated wonderfully.
A little tidbit – Eddie Gill won the Zike Award last round with a ER total of -2 which is great to see him bounce back after a poor performance.
Honourable mentions
Adam Gibson (Gold Coast) – 27 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists. ER – 30
Julian Khazzouh (Sydney) – 17 points, 13 rebounds, 4 blocks. ER – 28
Jerai Grant (Sydney) – 18 points, 12 rebounds. ER – 27
Jacob Holmes (Townsville) – 21 points, 11 rebounds. ER - 26
Anatoly Bose (Sydney) – 18 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists. ER - 22
Brad Hill (Cairns) – 14 points, 12 rebounds. ER – 22
Peter Crawford (Townsville) – 22 points. ER – 20.
The Townsville/Sydney game was the most impressive game, as six of the eight players over 20 ER played in that game. It’s also good to see Brad Hill get back to playing well.

Zike Award
Round Twelve Zike Award
Alex Loughton, Cairns Taipans – 25:31 minutes, 6 points (2/14 FG, 1/5 3P, 1/2 FT), 7 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 block, 3 turnovers. ER: -1
He wasn’t the lowest of the round (that goes to Michael Cedar’s -3) but he did play over 25 minutes compared to Cedar’s 17. Going on basic stats his game doesn’t seem too bad with 6 points and 7 rebounds. The biggest kicker however is his woeful 14% field goal shooting. Usually when a player misses that many shots they stop shooting but it doesn’t seem like Alex got the message. His three turnovers just added salt to the wounds. Come on Alex, do a Eddie Gill and turn this Zike Award into a Dabster Award!
