One game overshadowed all others this round and that was the double overtime thriller between Townsville and Sydney. In fact, the two teams who competed in that game combined for 45% of the ER total for the round spread out over five games. Crazy.
Dabster Award
Round Fifteen Dabster Award Winner
Jesse Wagstaff, Perth Wildcats – 25 points (8/13 FG, 3/7 3P, 6/6 FT), 5 rebounds 1 steal. ER – 26
The Sydney/Townsville game was so even that surprisingly the Dabster winner didn’t come from that game yet there were a massive twelve players with an ER of 15 or over. What was impressive was Wagstaff’s performance in their 92-80 win over the Gold Coast. A usually quieter player (season ER: 10.1) he exploded with a round high of 25 points. Great shooting coupled with a perfect outcome from the free throw line he well and truly deserves this week’s gong.
Honourable mentions
Michael Cedar (Townsville) – 22 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists. ER - 23
Elvin Mims (Townsville) – 14 points (5/7 FG), 5 rebounds. ER – 22
Julian Khazzouh (Sydney) – 17 points, 13 rebounds. ER - 21
Jacob Holmes (Townsville) – 20 points, 10 rebounds. ER – 20
Graeme Dann (Sydney) – 7 points, 13 rebounds, 5 assists. ER - 20
Thomas Abercrombie (New Zealand) – 22 points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals, 2 blocks. ER – 20
Oscar Forman (Wollongong) – 19 points, 7 rebounds. ER – 20
As you can see, five of the remaining seven players that scored 20 points or more were from that game. Good to see lesser players like Cedar, Dann and Forman having good games.

8. (8) Cedric Jackson, New Zealand Breakers – 16.4
9. (10) Mark Worthington, Gold Coast Blaze – 15.9
10. (9) Jamar Wilson, Cairns Taipans – 15.2
Hardly any movement this week with the biggest shaker was Jacob Holmes moving up two positions. Five of the top ten decreased their point total after a fairly ordinary performance, especially Daniel Johnson’s whopping total of 3.
Zike Award
Daryl Corletto, New Zealand Breakers – 18:14 minutes, 3 points (1/6 FG, 1/2 3P, 0/0 FT), 1 rebound, 2 assists, 2 turnovers, 4 fouls. ER: -1
Ouch. In a fairly one sided game Corletto just couldn’t get going. His four fouls limited him to only eighteen minutes and his woeful shooting doomed him for this award. Even his good work getting two assists was undermined by his equal amount of turnovers. Not a game he will remember fondly.
